Founded in 2017, the Claiborne Avenue Alliance (CAA) fights for the future of New Orleans’ Tremé neighborhood, a mostly Black community harmed by the Claiborne Expressway. Once a vibrant street, North Claiborne now faces flooding, pollution, and health issues. Led by urban planner Amy Stelly, CAA uses meetings, research, and advocacy to push for cleaner air, safer streets, and a restored public space that honors the neighborhood’s history.
